Visions for the 21st Century

A 30 minute video and booklet explaining Cecchetti's enduring concepts relative to Classical and Modern dance

Cecchetti had a complete buildup of concepts of movement, as demonstrated in his adages for the Days of the Week, which enabled a dancer to perform any movement asked for by the diverse choreographers of Diaghilev's Ballet Russe. The booklet explains in detail the concepts built up over the week. The video shows, for each day of the week, these concepts demonstrated first in Cecchetti adages and then in modern choreography.

This valuable resource for those preparing for Teacher Qualifying Examinations, and a general education tool for Major level students, was presented at the Australian Cecchetti Congress in Melbourne and the 2001 Cecchetti Summer School in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Susan Koybasi is a very talented pianist and composer for the ballet classroom. While her homebase is Edmonton, Alberta she is much in demand and has played for the School of Alberta Ballet, Royal Winnipeg Ballet School auditions, and Edmonton School of Ballet and Dance Alberta.

Susan's music is much loved by teachers and dancers because of the dynamics and quality she brings to movement.

Volume 1 of "Expression of Dance" contains music directly composed for Primary, Standard 1 and Standard 2 of the Canadian Cecchetti Society Standard Class Exam Syllabi.

It is also eminently useful for unset classes of any ballet method.

Teachers of young children, especially those who use CD’s for their creative movement classes, are always in need of excellent music. Nenad Duplancic, who is a pianist at The School of Dance in Ottawa, Ontario, has many years of experience playing for all levels of classes. He has recently produced a CD titled Imagining Dance, which he hopes will inspire the teacher and student to move freely, dance, mime, think, laugh and play. It is a brilliant compilation of sounds and music, which The School of Dance highly recommends.
